Multidisciplinary artist and activist Malene Barnett's work envisions a contemporary Black experience rooted in the cultural and artistic traditions of the African diaspora. Her Kindred Collection, exclusive to Lulu and Georgia, reinterprets her hand-built ceramic vessels as tactile paper wall styles. The Malou Wallpaper celebrates the legacy of Afro-Caribbean women potters with its intricate and raised pattern. A chalky white finish offers a tonal look, perfect for styling it in a bathroom or transitional space.

Artist Bio

Malene Barnett is a Brooklyn-based artist, activist, and authority on the cultural and artistic traditions in the African diaspora. Drawing inspiration from the community of makers who built and preserved the legacy of these traditions, her ceramic work explores and expands on the idea of clay as a tool for liberation. Her Kindred Collection with us translates the hand-built clay vessels into a new medium, wallpapers. Each geometric wallpaper pattern is unique and channels ancestral pattern-making techniques.
